1st Short (very short) Ride
(I'm feeling accomplished)
Well I did it!!! I took my 1st steps this evening at becoming a motorcyclist. I rode my bike up the street in front of my house a couple times. I started off smoothly, somewhat slow, but smoothly enough and began my ascent up the street. I started to get on the throttle and, damn it feels good to finally be riding a motorcycle rather than just sitting on it!! So I get to the top of the hill in front of my house and just as I am cresting the hill I stall it...Like I said short short ride. I recover from this stall and start the bike up again, and begin to smoothly let out the clutch and give it some gas, and back down the hill I soar toward my house. I heard the engine, eager to get to second gear but I was a bit nervous, it being my 1st time riding my motorcycle (any motorcycle for that matter) I thought it best to stick to 1st and come to a slow and steady stop back in front of my house. I felt accomplished for the day. I did it!!! I am not soo anxious to be riding my motorcycle as of yet beause I know I will be taking my MSF basic riders course in less than a month, and if I am going to make a stupid beginners mistake on a motorcycle, I would rather it be their bike not mine!! So for a month or so while I am getting the bike a new rear tire, tuned up, registered, insured, and liscensed, I will just be cruising in front of the house, waiting for the day after my motorcycle safety course, the day I can take to the open road!!
