April 15 2008 TAX DAY
(I'm feeling
relieved
)
Heh, today the state tax return hit the checking account which means I turned around and paid the Federal return (what I owed) on the DAY! Talk about timing! I really hate taxes. They are so confusing and tangled and frustrating. Large companies with millions and billions pay less tax then I do with loop holes and such. I wish we would either go to a straight consumption tax, you pay tax on what you buy or a straight flat tax, Certain income you pay no taxes, certain age you pay no taxes -- period. No loop holes, no deductions, no social engineering, just make it simple!
I won't be going to Florida for the concert. I realized there's two reasons. I don't have the money really and I have to turn my car in tomorrow to have that dent fixed that I got at the post office mailing the package to Africa to Michael who never received the package! Ain't life a bitch sometimes. So I'll also have a rental which I don't care to drive 8 hours one way to Florida. My luck something would happen.
Moonchimes got her package. I am so pleased she liked it. I saw it and I said I have to get this for her, it fits. It's fun shopping when you are thinking of other people. Oh don't get me wrong, I got plenty for myself, which is why I don't have money to go to Florida but it's fun to think of others.
Mailed a package to some special friends in England and a truly special young man -- even if he does keep a messy room.
And speaking of that young man, I don't believe I've seen any cooking knives used in any cooking videos yet. What's up with that?
<-- tenderizing chicken and cooking!
I'm hoping Belinda's package with my additions made it to Coleman by now. I hope Caden liked his bunny, he was supposed to get it this trip I believe. I wish I could see his face and Coleman's face when he was presented with the bunny. Durn thing is bigger then the boys are!
I need some of what B has, my diet has taken a serious hit from my depressed days. Too lazy to cook and too easy to walk across the street and get a pizza or have Pizza Hut deliver. And I wonder why I have no money!
New project is starting to kick off. I am about 90% sure I'm going to have to move offices and end up driving to RTP every day. I told my friend who works for a bank to get me a job -- they have a headquarters in England. I'll take a job overseas. I could use a couple year vacation. Maybe they have some openings "down under" and I'll go live with B for a while. Mwuahahaha. Nah, I don't think I like the critters in that area.
My apartment is a disaster and if I'm going to have TJ come and visit I need to clean it. Of course, he says with an evil grin, I could wait until TJ does visit and have him help me. Mwuahahahah. Nah, I guess I need to get it cleaned soon. Maybe I need to get it to a state and then just hire someone to come in and help me get it the final steps.
I need to check the local colleges for classes in art, drawing or video editing. I need something to be productive with my time. I've started playing World of Warcraft a bit. It's a great time waster but I really should be more productive. I bought an Oil Painting Kit for Dummies when I was at the Michaels art store. I may try my hand at that. It's just a small kit. But then I noticed the prices of the canvases and the paint. Good lord, I can understand starving artists now! I sent a package of to Lexi (Jesmalu) and I've got one ready to go to Jo/Gem when I get her address again. I have it somewhere but now I can't find it. Story of my disorganized life.
I'm reading the new (well new to me) Stephen King book Duma Keys. It's interesting so far, I'm sure it will get more weird as it goes along. One thing you can count on with Stephen King is that it will get weird.
I miss my chats with some folks in England. We've not been connecting as much lately. I really hate the 5 hour time difference. It's so hard to catch them at a time when we can both chat. I hope D. is feeling better.
Well off to work and the drive to RTP. OH JOY! The trip out in the morning takes from 20 to 30 mins. The drive home if you don't get out of there by 4:30pm is 1 to 1.5 hours! YUCK! I HATE traffic.

Part 2.... aint that bad when u get to know them, lol. I understand where u are coming from with the 2 year holiday or change of life by coming down under, but soemtimes under close scrutiny, it tends to be a yearning to run away from lifes little problems and the tedium of what we call our existence. But at the end of the day it follows us anyway, or it is still there when we get back. I remember shelling out hundreds of thousands for my first company in Queensland, and although the magnitude of the investment was always on my mind, it was that 'chamge' of pace I really wanted. 12 years and many ups and downs later, I still wish in some ways I had stayed at home.
My advice to ya, for what it is worth, is kick back, take a hold of what you have, and what you have had, put it all into some perspective and move forward. Decide what you ARE going to be and do, and let nothing stand in your way!! Friends will be friends no matter what, and time differences can be overcome..... PRIORITISE!

Thanks B. Yeah I think prioritizing is the name of the game. Now, what are my priorities. :)

Hi T, wow sounds like u gotta lot going on, well at least a lot of confusion, lol. New project, job in UK, projects, packages, W.O.W, Cars n Dents, Disorganisation, Lack of Food (well eating at least), Housework, guests, more packages, LV....... Damn, this is more than the CIA has goin on at one time!! You is just one person dude, and I remember not so long ago being sorta in the same predicament, but I fathomed it out!! PRIORITISE is the word of the day, and by doing so I have managed to make sure that there is some sorta structure going on.
I have cast aside things that are not so important in favour of those things that are extremely imoprtant and in so doing have managed to feel better, look better (arguably, lol) and get ahead. Taxes I dont worry bout cos they are a necessary evil, although I empathise with your messy system. Ours used to be the same until they introduced the GST (same as VAT), but we still have income tax as well.
Chin up dude, and hey our critters......
