Casting Couch Woes '07
(I'm feeling frustrated)
I have had it up to my ear with you sleazy men who use their status to sleep with women! Let alone actresses who are trying to get a break in this biz. Last week I dealt with music video man who, when I went to audition he says, "oh don't worry you don't have to do anything you'll just be sexy...you know wind blowing through your hair and lookin sexy." Later that night he wants to discuss business with me at 10:30 at night...and asks what do I like to drink. You know drink drink, we're not talking apple juice here people. Well luck had it I don't do business after 10:30 and I didn't go. Along with not returning any of his calls. Screw that I'm not going to do you to be a freakin booty shakin video girl. That goes against everything I stand for.
Perhaps that's a lil' too easy to turn down...music videos, you know. How about movies? Ya movies. Wanna be in movies lil' girl???? Wanna, wanna, wanna? Ok yes I do but I don't want to have to sleep around to be in MOVIES! Scenario 2, today, noon. I meet with a DIFFERENT man who is...well you know that Anna Nicole Smith movie that's being made? Well that's all I'll say...So we talk and he looks over my resume. We have a good conversation about Anna Nicole and Marilyn Monroe. Then we get to oh surprise surprise I'm making a movie about marilyn. No shit? "Oh ya you could play her." What? Come on now, you know...I mean I can do a great impression, but don't I need to be taller? No, he reassures me that they use smaller girls.
Next his phone rings and he claims he's on the phone with this renown casting director. Meanwhile he has me read an article on his computer about his future movie. He then pats his lap for me to sit on it! Confused by the gesture...I sit on his lap. Then he says, " Hey I've got this girl Natasha you've gotta meet she can play from 17-25 and she is real attractive." Then he begins to rub my back. He gets off the phone and rambles on about such and such as he begins to put his arms around me and feel me up!!! "woah woah woah," I say "I'm sorry, but this is awkward for me."
We sit on separate couches and he apologizes for what happened and that he simply could not resist and NEVER does this sort of thing--right.....I tell him that I'm business and not that kind of business. He then goes onto say that his business relationships are relationships as well...Perhaps he could tell that wasn't luring me in so he says "Well I'm eating dinner with a writer and an agent tonight on my boat in Marina del Ray." This guy tried and tried I mean he even offered me a private screening. Hmmmmmm too bad I'm not a slut!!!! I'd be in music videos and movies. I hate how this guy is affiliated with lifetime movies!!!!!! Lifetime is the woman's' channel!!!! And here I'm getting sexually harassed!!!!!!!!
I really freakin hate this sick business. I have talent you A holes. I am determined not to sleep my way to the top. And when I get there you better know I will publicly humiliate you.
I need some encouragement. I keep getting these walls in-front of me...and they are always MEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'd like to have a meeting with a straight guy and not get hit on. I want to be taken as a serious talented actress!
Wish I were a guy life would be easier.
