chapter 2

The black wolf pup lied on a soft bed gazing out the window. She was trying to occupy herself while her father and the strange guy with the golden leaf on his head talked about something. She was thinking about the name her father had given her when he was walking her to the room she was in now. “Kokori….. What do you think of that name?” he had asked her, though of course she could not reply, though she DID like the name. She Jumped off of the bed then began to explore. The king and her father had been talking for a while and she had climbed on the bed and taken a short nap. She nudged her nose under the bed and sniffed it smelt new and interesting to her. She crawled under the blanket and looked around. She was completely blind there was nothing but darkness around her.
The darkness scared her, what kind of trap is this? she wondered. She ran ahead, unable to see where she was going, and felt cloth above her. She rushed out from the darkness and blinked in the light. She sat panting on the weird grass that was on the ground. She sniffed at the grass and then shook her head, it smelled like dung.
Definitely not her favorite smell….she most definitely favored the smell of the Moonflowers in the cave she was born in. Just as she began to explore some more she heard footsteps approaching, instinctively she ran under the bed, knowing it wasn’t a trap now. The king and Kokoris father walked in the room and looked on to the bed. When they saw that she wasn’t there they began to grow frantic. “Where is she? We can’t lose her! Was she kidnapped?” Cried the king. Underneath the bed Kokori snickered to herself, unaware of her father creeping up behind her….. Kokori yelped as her father ambushed her playfully. She growled and ran out from under the bed just to get chased by the king…..who had no chance of catching her.
By the time her father had edged himself out from under the bed Kokori had bolted out the door and down the hall, and was being chased by almost every noble, servant, and royalty in the castle. Even though she was small, Kokori was extremely fast due to her shadowwolf abilities. Her father joined the chase and was in front of all of the humans in a matter of seconds. She had been running for
protection at first, but now she thought it was fun. She made a sharp turn down a side hallway, making more then a few people trip. She dashed down the hallway and came to a dead end. She looked back and saw a hole in the wall. She jumped onto the ledge and out the hole. She didn’t expect the fall that followed. Her father leaned out of the window and tried to catch her but he wasn’t fast enough. She tumbled down to the ground. Suddenly Kokori saw lights flashing all around her, and then there was a vivid blue light.
She felt her shoulders move of their own free will and felt her fall slow and come to a stop. She hovered in mid-air and looked around, she felt strangely different. She looked back and saw wings! They were like bats but were covered in blue scales that shimmered in the sunlight. Kokori thought they were beautiful, she looked up and saw her father staring at her with his mouth hanging open. She landed on the ground and noticed that she had giant talons that were as sharp as the splinters thorns on the rosebush that was in a pot in the room she had just been in earlier.
She scraped the dirt with her claws and left a gash in the dirt. She laughed and sneezed on accident, and what she saw amazed her, out of her mouth came…..FIRE! She tried to yelp but instead let out a roar that even scared herself! She panicked, crushing countless plants under her claws. She saw her father running towards her and started to calm down, until she realized she was ten times his size!
The mysterious white light began to surround her and she felt herself shrink to her normal size. Her father ran up to her and nuzzled her, she looked around at all the destruction she caused and whined guiltily. Her father snorted then picked her up in his teeth. He took her to an unusual device that had horses tied to it. He jumped up onto it and set her down on another bed-like thing. She lied down and jumped back up as the bed underneath her began to shake. Her father lied down next to her to calm her down. She whimpered and laid back down as well.
