1. Never use animated gif pictures as a background - this might look great on its own but screws up your profile and makes it very slow to open, not to talk about readability!
2. Dark pictures makes it impossible to read as usually typing ink used is black -dark- or dark blue, or any other color usually dark.
3. Changing the type color might help in some cases as you need contrast between your background and the typing, on a white background typing in black, or any other color looks great as long as it is not white or close to white here are some examples [Example 1, Example 2, Example 3].{If you can not read the examples well imagie a whole web page written like that?! Hint for reading the examples place your mouse pointer after the opening bracket "[" and click, then press and hold the [Shift] key, and while pressing and holding on that key place the pouse pointer before the closing bracket "]" and click!}.
   
4. To illustrate how colors combinations could work for you or against you here are some examples to see how much difficult it becomes reading your site with this combinations! [Example 1, Example2, Example3]. In these examples I used yellow color to type in all three backgrounds to emphasis contrast effects in the clarity of your text!
   
5. Selecting your favorite picture as background can be done if you modify the picture using any of the well known graphic programs; you need to have it as clear as possible close to faded on a dark theme or vise versa, and when modifying the theme's colors you need always to take care of the contrast effects and how much visible they are, lines, typing boxes and their backgrounds all that has a color that needs to be adjusted or else your whole profile become unreadable!
6. Finally as a last advise, using music this will slow down your page, the bigger the music file the slower the page will load, so try as much as possible to use links to music broadcasts or short clips this is available in few sites, bandwidth is provided by those sites so your hosting server would not block your activity for exceeding your allocated bandwidth!
