Completed my MSF course
(I'm feeling

)
Hello all,
Just this past weekend I completed my motorcycle safety class. I took the class with my dad, and I had a lot more fun than I thought it would be. I made sure to take off work for the whole weekend to focus all my time and energy on this class so I could soak up as much valuable information as I could. Let me tell you, I sure did learn a whole lot about motorcycling than I thought I would. On Friday, we had the classroom portion where we learned all the basic rules and procedures on powerpoint before we got to start riding. In the beginning of class, everyone had to give their own introduction, and it happens to be that I was one out of three people that has not had any prior riding experience out of a class of 12.
The next day was the first day or riding. I was pretty nervouse because I had never been on a bike before. The instructors were really helpful and fun-loving, so I wasn't as nervous as I could have been. They really covered the basics, so it was easy starting from ground zero. All the bikes were 125cc and the bike I rode for the weekend was a 2007 Kawasaki Eliminator 125. I was pretty lucky, because it was a really new bike and there wasn't a thing wrong with it. Being a student used bike, I thought there would be broken mirrors and whatnot. but everything was in tack and working, even had working turn signals! There were only 400 miles on it, and still on the break in process. So I was sure to be gentle on it so the next group of students would have a good working bike like I did. By the end of the day I felt really comfortable riding the bike and was pretty good with the clutch. But I ended up getting so used to the bike that I really felt the lack of power of the little 125cc.
Sunday, the last day of class was the most fun. We got to practice everyday traffic manuevers, and at the end were the tests. First was the riding skills test. I was pretty nervous because I didn't know how well I was at turning in a tight radius under pressure or taking a curve with the proper technique. Turns out I scored the third highest score in all my class out of 12 with a score of 96. The two that got better scores than I did had 100s. Next was the writen portion. This I wasn't nervous about because I've taken practice tests. Sure enough, I scored a 100, but was still excited about that. It was quite the fun-filled weekend, I had a blast.
Now that I have all this completed, all I have to do is buy a bike, get to know the bike in a big empty parking lot, and once my birthday in October rolls around, I can get my license and ride the open road! Can't wait! I'm suppsed to be going with my dad to check out bikes this Wednesday, hope all goes well. :)
