Drag Me To Hell Film Review
(I'm feeling amused)

Old fashioned camp horror is back but with a modern twist for a new generation. Writer and director Sam Raimi is in top form with his latest flick, Drag Me To Hell. Fans of the iconic Evil Dead series will love this movie, done in the same style, but for a contemporary audience. However, the film kept the campy, low budget feel by using puppets and makeup instead of high tech special effects. The terror scenes, with their wonderfully frightful, over the top gore, offer the perfect balance of comedy and jump-out-your seat scares. The fight scenes in the car are some of the coolest horror violence to hit the big screen in a long time. Drag Me To Hell offers a refreshing change of pace from the tired, worn out remakes offering the same old gift just wrapped in a different box.

Not only is the story plot fresh and original, but the acting is playful as well. All the actors are well cast. They seem to be aware of the type of movie they are making and do not take themselves too seriously.

Alison Lohman, who plays Christine Brown, offers us a heroine who is every bit as loveable, witty, and endearing as the legendary Bruce Campbell. Women everywhere can identify with her predictament of struggling to suceed in a dog eat dog world. Blood and gore aside, the loss of Christine's naivete and innocence as she battles evil spirits and sacrifices animals to save herself from a curse is funny, charming, and utterly relatable. Everyone can identify with meeting a lover's parents for the first time and trying to get ahead in the business world. So add nasty co-workers, dinner with the in-laws, plus soul eating demons, and you have a horredy masterpiece.

Justin Long is also adorable as Christine's skeptical but hopelessly devoted boyfriend, Clay Dalton. Lorna Raver also deserves special kudos for playing Mrs. Ganush, the creepiest old lady this side of Hell.

Drag Me To Hell is a horror movie with chops and substance. Not only is it a deliciously wicked gore fest with plenty of kick ass gross out scenes, it's a modern day morality tale with character journey and transformation. A fun, light hearted romp all the way around.

YITZHAK AND MOLLY GIVE THIS FILM EIGHT PAWS ALL THE WAY UP FOR A BELLY RUB.

CULT HORROR IS BACK AND ME LIKEY ALOT.
