EVOLUTION OF COMMUNICATION BASED RELATIONSHIPS..Whew!
(I'm feeling amused)

I WILL TRY MY BEST TO COVER THIS QUICKLY SO AS NOT TO BORE YOU.

I was thinking the other day bout the internet and how relationships are formed, both good and bad, and then i thought about the microwave, yes the microwave. What did they do before, it was the oven, yes and before that, and before that. Well thats when i thought bout the internet.
When we look back to the thirties and forties, people went out to the movies or shows, and it was more face to face, but we did have the telephone also, but i do not believe people spent much time on it then as they would coming up in the sixties and seventies.
Many homes in the thirties and forties had radios that they would gather round with family and friends and listen to all sorts of shows, a great way to use your imagination
After the war and all during the fifties. cars were the rage and so meeting places became the drive-ins where people would hang out and get together, drive-in movies were a big item also.
During the sixties the new war and advent of the more popular use of drugs sent relationships and people meeting one another a whole new way with the moniker free love heard everywhere. It was popular to get stoned and have sex with whoever and wherever. Not a great idea.
As we move into the disco era of the seventies, we see a new form of mass communication, to rival the telephone, it was the CB Radio, yes the cb used by truckers and popularized by Smokey and the Bandit film. Now people could communicate over some distance, free of charge, no going out, no gas, no food, no dressing up, what a great way to get together with friends and make new ones. Yes it was the beginning of the transition.
With the cb , people also wanted to see who they were talking to, or who they were interested in, so of course without cams this could only be done by personal contact. Yes some did work out and most did not, very much like the net today.
Well we all know later on with the advent of computers came the chatrooms, lots of typing, no audio or cam, at least you could hear a voice on cb, but that would not last long as computers would soon pass everything up. So today we have cams and audio so you can hear and see who you are talking to.
Yes we have come a long way but where are we headed, people stay home more, more work and communication is done by computer, entertainment by computer, keep in touch with friends and family, what will the future hold, will we have 3D projections next, holograms in our room, who can say.
The bottom line is with the computer, and the prices of going out today, we are sticking closer to home and our computers, anyone for a 3D girlfriend......hahaha.

Took me back to the good old days when everything was appreciated and not thrown away unless it was totally useless, even then someone would find a use for it.
Should see my local tip were we despose of council equipement its sacralidge.
Been a bit of an geek holodecks are very real but very exspensive the only problem with them is you need a lot of concrete and suspension to keep the lazer still. otherwise the image becomes distorted.
Nevermind theres no substitute for the real thing!!!

Great Blog Dave - I actually visualized the journey - and the thought of chit-chat by phone in the old days was kinda ridiculous but hilarious to imagine - ha ha ha...

These are the wild west days of a format that will definitley become the ultimate form of media and information exchange.. Newspapers, music stores and terrestrial radio are already feeling the effect in a mojor way.. and that effect will soon blossom once the generations preceding us are gone and technology increases even more...

I wouldn't doubt if the pc eventually replaces the phone, the phone-book, and someday even the tv and the pc will be one super media center... Virtual dating is already a global phenomenon - (Nothing compared to actual contact and intimacy in my opinion) - but it's BOUND to get bigger and more complex for CERTAIN.

..again, Great Blog Sir!!!
