i don't want to fight

(I'm feeling optimistic)

if and when i have a family
i don't want to fight.

i don't want to dread coming home,
for the door to open,
for the garage door to lift.

these are the things i want to look forward to.

when i talk,
i don't want to be on eggshells.
i (all of ) us to talk about everything
freely.

when mistakes are made
or feelings are hurt,
i don't want the pain to last.

i want to be my best,
and be helped along the way.
i want to help my family
to be their best,
not destructed.
