I got the green dragon
Drove to the dealer's at 9am and it was there. They were opening up and getting everything sorted out.Their tech checked out the bike and went for a test ride.It had 6 miles on it when i got it.So they loaded it up on the back of my truck and i went home.Got there around 11:30 am.called in the insurance and got a card for that.Unloaded off the truck and went for a ride.It was windy as hell real bad.Got blown all over the road on new tires.I do like the tires they are wide and radials.Haven't experienced that before on a motorcycle.so first issues are scrubbing in the tires and running around under 4000 rpm for 500 miles. Not hard on country roads. The bike has power when you get close to 4000rpm's.The throttle is light and easy to twist. The gear lever is closer to the center and has almost no resistance to shift.Super easy. The seat is harder than the 500 .Manuevering is really good and better than the 500.So low speed turning is a piece of cake. The 500 is top heavy a bit and needs some speed over 25mph to be happy. The slow speed twisty roads was easier to do on the cruiser slow than the 500.I will have to do the 500 mile service at the dealers. They change the oil and torque all the bolts. This keeps your warranty up.After that I can do the oil changes.Factory says 7500
miles between changes.Thats too long.About 3000 miles would work ok.The engine has a bearing harmonic at 50 mph.Its not loud and could be normal.i had a louder one on the 500.It was because the chain was too tight.PO was a harley guy on the 500.bike has fuel injection which is new to me on a bike . Throttle is easy no resistance at all.So I do like it and will ride it over the weekend and probably rack up close to 300 miles on it.I will do my second fill up and check out the gas mpg.Should be interesting I am only revving 4000 rpm.The speedo is digital which i don't care for.You can't see what the mileage is without turning it on.The simple speedo and odo's were easier to see.you got both sets of info. With this I have to push a button to seeodo or trip counter. The odo goes in miles no tenths of a mile.the trip odo has tenths of a mile. There is a seconf trip odo that goes to 4 places.the first only handles 3.the option for time is also offered. So you can see one or the other not both.the speedo and tach are analog needles movingaround. This is easier to see and quicker than numbers flashing.Ok thats enough bike report for tonight.weather for the weekend is supposed to be chances of rain. That will be fun. I will dodge the rain and ride as much as I can.So on a new bike or car how do you break in the engine? Good question.Follow the advice of the mfg which is to go easy on the engine. All car and bike companies say the same thing because they know what happens when you don't.So the ride like you stole it school of thought is for idiots.People who don't want to do the job right. They give all kinds of bs
and when your ride wears out quick too bad.I built engines aircooled vw's back in the '70's.I worked for a vw shop for a while.I know what happens when you start up a new motor.Tell that to the new generation and they want to listen.OK fix your ride yourself fool or pay me big bucks because you don't know how.Thats the bottom line.Lamers.So I had some fun today.Would have been better without the wind, but tomorrow is another day.Have a night.
