Is Vloging Safe?

Of all the dumb questions I could come up with...is Vloging on motorcycles safe? Does it keep minds on the Vlog or on the road?

Comments welcome. Might make for a good Vlog rant!

Be safe.

It,s as safe as the rider is.Nothing more or less. Some non riders go as far to ask if bikes themselfs are safe.Again it,s not the bike ,it,s the rider..

Yeah, Wilson, I guess your set up pretty much solves much of the probel. But i does require a specific helmet, no?

Well...here is my take on it and you pretty much touched on my thinking. Using a phone in a car is far more distracting because you are busy answering questions and continuing the conversation....you are really kind of obligated in a sense but with the camera (especially when it out of your view) you'll notice that most of us lose focus on the video and take awhile to get back on topic or even start talking again in some instances....we are actually more in tune with the road and surrounding than we are with the video and topic. In my opinion...if I'm riding with no camera in my face I'm still thinking about things and like most people sometimes even talking to myself about this or that.....without the camera I'm actually riding more brain dead than I am with it, the topics are actually keeping me more stimulated and aware of my surrounding.

I know there are people that are going to say I'm full of it but I know I operate.....and I'm probably a better judge anyway.

Yeah, Swipe, I pretty much think as you do. I guess a set up like WilsonRyder's is a very good compromise or not a compromise at all. I don't know. It still gets you talking and maybe thinking on the Vlog and not as much on the road. But then again I find that my mind wonders enough on its own anyway, with or without a camera. So it might be an issue of concentration and being careful with what you're doing. Thanks for the comment.

In my opinion it is fairly safe on a quiet road at lower speed. However, I'd certainly consider it a hazard riding at speed on fast roads or in built up areas where you need full concentration.

Not only can talking to yourself be distracting it can also be disconcerting having a camera stuck in your face, obscuring your lower view and clocks/gauges. The camera can also result in you forgetting to switch off turn signals which could lead to a car pulling out on you, thinking you are about to make a turn.

Taking all the risks into account, it's still a very enjoyable hobby and pastime :)
