Longest Word
Antidisestablishmentarianism is the longest non-coined non-technical word in the english language. However its meaning is very specific. Ill break it down for you:
establish(9 letters)- to set up, put in place
dis-establish(12 letters)- ending the status of a body, in particular a church, given such status by law, such as the Church of England
disestablish-ment(16 letters)- the seperation of church and state (specifically in this context it is the political movement of the 1860's in Britian)
anti-disestablishment(20 letters)- opposition to disestablishment
antidisestablishment-arian(25 letters)- an advocate of opposition to disestablishment
antidisestablishmentarian-ism(28 letters)- the movement or ideology that opposes disestablishment
All in all it means- the joining of the Church of England and Britian in the 1860's. I have no clue why they created a word for that. Although that does solves the popular question on how to use the longest word in the english language. You would actually have to be in world history talking about the Chuch of England.
So I encourage you if you have the chance that when your teacher goes to review about Britian and the Church of England around the 1860's to just raise you hand and ask her "Can you please summarize antidisestablishmentarianism." then when she gives you a wierd look just reply "Oh antidisestablishmentarianism means the joining of the Church and England and Britian in the 1860's didn't you know that".
If you do that then please message me and tell me the reaction you got I would love to here it!!!
