LVCM - LiveVideo Community Moderators Part II
(I'm feeling
annoyed
)
Ok... So the saga continues...
I read and watched other peoples comments on this subject.
There are good people who are moderators. Don't take it that I do not feel this way.
Anoymous:
My point to anonymous mods is something that I would think mods would actually think is a good idea if they thought about it. First of all, you are a user of LiveVideo. When you kick/ban someone then you are open to having some drama thrust upon you just because you are trying to take your power seriously. When people are kicked, the first reaction is going to be... you the mod, overreacted and abused your power. Come on ... you know... And on top of that, you add the fact you may or may not be friends with someone else and the situation gets worst... cause its probably a personal kick... and then begins the drama on you. On the other side of the coin, if your friend is running show he is going to expect you to be more forgiving of them... And if not, what happens? Its not fair to you!
I think it was caveman in his liveroom who says "if you were pulled over by a cop, would you rather know who they are or not".... well of course I would... they would probably let me go! Because you are a user just like everyone else, your objectivity is always in question.
Also, keep in mind, those of you who think this is a bad idea, when you are kicked from a room... it doesn't even tell you who did it. Its left up to the imagination of the person kicked and the honisty of the channel owner for someone to figure out who did it... Caveman also said in a room the other day that as he understands it, livevideo doesn't even record who kicked who and any information leading up to this.
Admins are Anonymous... and this has worked out just fine.
Kicking Normal Users:
Why do moderators need this power? There is a channel operator. The channel operator should be responsible for policing their own channel. Its their show. Kicking and Banning are simple functions. There should be mods just in case the owner decides to go afk a second and leave the show unattended? Well, thats a stroke of luck if a mod just so happened to pass by and see someone doing something wrong. I can understand shutting shows down because of content if the owner doesn't control their show.
Modding Others:
My only point here is why don't the channel owners have the ability to do this themselves? I would think that channel operators would really like this feature... as said before ... so they can deligate. Why must they contact a Mod to do this?
Look, I appreciate other peoples views on this subject. These however are my views. I think that most can agree that this was not really handled very well. Of course a lot of LiveVideo needs policing, and not just the shows. Also, this isn't a job... you're not getting paid to sit in rooms and wait for someone to do something wrong. You are first and foremost, users who enjoy LiveVideo just like us.

I can't say I totally agree with the idea of no mods, or that mods should be drawn from the community or be 'nameless employees' - but something you said does bring up an interesting point and idea.
The major issue that seems to have arisen is accountability. I don't just mean that of the mods, because the existence of mods is supposed to in part to hold users accountable for their own actions. Where you bring this point though is very interesting...
Anyone running a LiveShow can moderate the show. Doesn't being granted that power mean that they are then basically held to the same standards as our existing 'roaming' LVCMs are? Isn't it a show broadcaster's responsibility by such logic that they moderate their room or see that it is moderated by either those they empower (and would be able to hold accountable) or by requesting a LVCM handle it for them? If they fail to do so, wouldn't it make sense to close said LiveShow down?
Perhaps we should re-evaluate the order of things.
