My First Love
(I'm feeling nostalgic)
Christine's (wheresthesea's) Valentine vlog inspired me to write the following story from my childhood. I hope you enjoy it.
The first time I actually dated a girl was in 7th grade. We both played the cello in orchestra class. Her name was Melody. I took her to a movie one day, and on another occasion I took her bowling. She gave me a "love chain" made of gum wrappers, and I gave her a dozen packages of Sweet-Tarts (her favorite candy). It was so romantic. =)
In ninth grade, I transferred to a different school than hers, so we wrote love letters to each other (goofy ones). Finally, we got together again (we wanted to kiss each other for the first time), but it was painfully awkward for me for some reason, and it never happened. What finally killed the relationship was when I went to a really stupid movie with her parents and brother and her, and I just felt like I didn't belong there.
When we were both about 16, we happened to have one last (chance) meeting in a bus station elevator. We said a quick hello, and then she was out of my life forever. After that encounter, I never forgave myself for letting her slip away, because she had turned into an absolutely gorgeous girl.
