My Son's First Dance Ever Is Tonight! =)

(I'm feeling excited)

Right now, as I type this, my son Lucas is at his first dance. It's being hosted by the City Park and Rec. Dept., and it's exclusively for middle school kids who live in our town. I'm so excited! I hope he has fun. He went there with one of his closest friends (another boy). They are on the younger end of those in attendance. His attitude seemed really good - he wasn't nervous, he just wanted to check it out. There was no agenda going on in his mind, like wanting to connect with a girl or something. I'll post another blog when I find out from him how it went. Before the dance, he and I played tennis right across the street, and when we were done, he walked to the gym where the dance was being held and met up with his friend. He's really growing up! I don't know if it's obvious, but I'm reliving my first dance when I see Lucas going to his. Mine was somewhat of a disaster (I didn't dance at all), so I hope he does better than me, haha. I'll let you know. =)

At my first dance I laughed at people and cussed the out under my breath. Bet you wouldn't have guessed that. :)

I'll be posting the follow-up blog in a little while. JMQ, I'm sorry to hear about your daughter's experience. When I went to mine, it was ridiculous, because all the boys stayed on one side of the room and all the girls stayed on the other. It took a very brave soul to walk all the way across the room in front of everyone and ask someone to dance.

I cant wait to hear how it went...my daughters first middle school dance was a disaster...she stood in a corner...then called for me to pick her up early. She hasnt been to another one since :-( This age is so hard in many ways.
