My wish for you...

(I'm feeling grateful)

Have you ever met a person, someone that you are so connected to, right from the beginning, that they make you feel complete?

It is like you were sleeping and they just woke you up. Your mind and heart expand. The world just seems brighter and happier just for being with them. The world seems both smaller and bigger at the same time. It is so hard to describe.

You are so thankful for the love you have for them, the love they have for you, and the time you get to spend with them. You don’t have to speak and when you do, you finish each other’s sentences. Or maybe they speak and it is nearly word for word what you had in your head. Or you don’t speak at all and still you know. There is an understanding that goes beyond what can be learned.

This person is so special to you that you know that just by meeting them you will not be the same. You feel like you have known them all your life and that they understand you in a way that many could not. Even with this understanding, you tell them everything and they, in turn, do the same. There is a trust that no matter what is said they will continue to return your love. Continue to be there with you.

When you talk together time is irrelevant. Sometimes it seems as if it stops entirely and then during other times hours go by and you are shocked by its duration. Your time apart seems so endless. You miss them like you were missing a piece of yourself. That piece that you gave to them. The one they take with them. This is a selfless love. You give everything you have and wish that you had more to give. You can't hold back even if you tried. But you don't try.

Their very presence in your life, even when they are not with you, changes how you see the world. Changes how you want to be. They make you a better person. Make you think that you can do anything. Superhuman. You feel so full, whole, safe, and loved. You are so grateful. You wish that everyone could find at least one person that they can feel this way too because there is nothing that compares to it.

As I read my ramblings I have one person in mind. Someone I am so grateful for in my life. Someone that I love so completely that I felt the need to put this down. Someone who has changed me. I have been fortunate to meet several in my life that I feel this way about. Some that are still with me and some that are not. I am better for all of them. Grateful for each of them. Would not take any of the memories away even though it causes me pain to think I am not with them now. This type of love does not fade. You carry it with you forever. I would hope that when you read this, you too, would be thinking of someone in your life that you loved and understood so completely that it changed you forever. If you didn’t, I wish it for you.
