On choices- too many and too few

I wish I could tell you that I've had a groundswell of creativity lately but I haven't. I've had plenty to do lately around the house, at work, with family and unfortunately that means videos take a back seat. I know. I make this post about every six weeks. At least I'm keeping you informed. Which doesn't mean I think there would be a "Where's Omega?" campaign if I dropped off the face of the video-making planet. I'm realistic with my own popularity. It would probably be one of these "Oh, I didn't even know you were gone!" type of things.

Anyway, consider yourself apprised of the situation.

As an anti-social nerd, I am a TV addict. Contrary to some on this website, LiveVideo/YouTube/VH/whathaveyou has not supplanted by desire for prime-time TV. So this is the time of year when I am really annoyed a lot of the time (o.k. I'm annoyed most of the time anyway). Networks, in the name of competition, put on all the good shows AT EXACTLY THE SAME TIME. There is a couple of hours in the week when I have shows I want to watch on every stinking network (throw cable in there and goddamn) and only two slots on my DVR to record them. I spend a lot of time tying up one TV recording two shows and watching another show on a different TV and in some cases that still leaves me watching eps on the internet. I need to get a video capture card for my computer in the worst way….

In the land of politics, WTF is up with Sarah Palin? Goddamn. I'm definitely independent and while McCain isn't my ideal choice for president, I could probably live with him if he had any other decent running mate. At his age and with his health history, the possibility of him dying and leaving the country with HER in charge is scary as hell. Fuck that. Definitely watching the debate on Thursday. I anticipate a train wreck of epic proportions.

I have made it known (at least via my videos on LV) that I am voting third party (Libertarian) in November. My wife said that's like a throw-away vote. Sure, my candidate has zero chance of winning. You don't vote third party in this reality without knowing that. It's not about winning, it's about choice and perhaps, protest. Since I don't have a None of the Above box, why should I be forced to choose between the two parties simply because one of them will win. The supporters on either side will tell me that it's important to ensure the other guy doesn't get into power. Yeeeah. So now I have to vote AGAINST somebody, vote them off the Island as it were. Whatever. I'm tired of having to be black and white. Where's the middle ground candidate? Oh right. They can barely get on the ballots because of the restrictions put in place by the two majors. That is an undemocratic a situation as I can think of. If you meet the requirements for the office, then you oughta be able to get on the damn ballot..

Unrealistic? Probably. We likely don't want 1500 candidates for President every four years. But is four or five unreasonable? I think not. As someone told me, one or two would still probably be the most powerful but if we at least got more reasonable choices, that can't be a bad thing right?

Look where all this talking got us baby

Any vote for a real candidate (i.e. not writing in Daffy Duck) is NOT a throw away vote. This mentality is what gets us into the constant meaningless fueds that are started and maintained by the 2 major parties to keep us in the front yard yelling at each other about which "team" is better while they sneak around back and work together to rape and pillage our belongings.

Personally, I'm voting straight Whig Party ticket.

We obviously know how I'm voting, but that said you are most certainly right here, and especially with the economic situation there are some 3rd party candidates I would think long and hard about if they had a snowball's chance in hell.
