Project 999s
(I'm feeling happy)

The moment of truth for project 999s
Finally I can ride again after swapping the engine for a 999s-version. Of coarse it's raining right now so I can't test ride the bike with the new engine bah.

How about a picture?

Possibly this poly fairing will stay on the bike this season. When winter comes I'll start with a decent paint job. Still have to think about that one.

After checking every point on the start-checklist it was finally time to hit the start switch. Since I'm using the stock ECU of the former engine it wasn't too sure it would actually start due to possible errors in the anti-theft system.
When I switched on the egnition the dash immediatly showed it recognised the transponder in the key so it was ready to start.
First try the engine hesitated a bit but there was still some air in the fuel pump. 2nd start cycle it started immediatly yay! I'm a happy camper now!

Next weekend will be the big test of the engine. I have a trackday scheduled then. I'll try to get some video taken that day.

Greets,
Maxxi

Wow. Now I'm really wishing I could get the 848. Sadly, I'm over budget this year. Note to self: leave money for the unexpected.

Nope, it's already done.
Did a first test ride today. Oh boy this engine hauls ass weeeeeeeeeeeeeee! :o)
One thing I noticed is the throttle response is a killer lol. Left a few lines of rubber on the pavement when exiting a corner. Maybe it's best to start my trackday this sunday slow to get used to the extra pony's hehe

It's great to see that your bike is close to 100% complete :)
do you have to run the new engine in?

The paint job will have to wait a bit. I want to ride first ;)

Performance gain is high actually. Even with the stock exhaust mounted right now it has about 12hp more. With a new Termignoni exhaust it'll gain another 7 or 8 hp. I'm not sure how much torque gain I get from it. Since it has a lightweight alloy flywheel it picks up revs a lot faster but loses a bit of torque. It'll still be more then former engine.

Very cool!

You will definitely have to get it painted to the correct color ASAP though. You just can't have it looking like that!

Are you expecting any performance gains over the former engine?
