The Mod Squad: Pariahs of LiveVideo

(I'm feeling restless)

Damn. If I were a "mod", I'd feel pretty shitty.

Even though I might've signed on thinking I was doing something good for the community, and it felt good to be asked because I was someone I knew could do a decent job of helping others moderate their LiveShows, I'd still feel like crap right now because of the rising anti-sentiment against mod-status. If I were a mod, I'd feel like no one wants me in their room, because they might think I'm there to spy. Or they might think, who the hell is this person that they gave her mod creds? Or I'd wonder if even my friends were silently experiencing mod-envy.

Yeah, if I were a mod, I'd be regretting going for it, because now I'd be vulnerable to others pointing a finger at me when it was some jackass-rogue-mod who couldn't give a shit about LV entrusting some of its members to self-regulate the chat.

Even though it might not be directed at me, personally, I'd still feel like mods are looked at as the thought police now. That would pretty much put a pall on everything, I would think. It would change my experience here at this site, altogether. What a drag that would become.

Yeah, if I were a mod, I'd feel people are slowly but surely turning against me. I'd quit it. I'd contact my contact and say "Get that friggin' TV off my name" and that would be the end of it. Only it wouldn't be, really, because as more mods would quit, LV would come to see their attempt at involving the community as a failure.

We want involvement, engagement, interaction, a "SAY" in this process.
They give it to us- peicemeal, but it's something. A couple of assholes abuse it, the community cries out at the so-called injustice of the entire thing, they scale it back and quite possibly pull it altogether.

So much for proving our ability to handle what little power they give us to help one another out.

*For the record, I'm not a mod, but I have friends who've expressed this to me who are.

I remember when MOD meant COOL. Yeah,..I don't mind MODS and I'm actually very fond of quite a few of them. Time to have MOD
moderators I guess,..I think they look cuter in pairs anyway. This really is quite an intriguing social experiment we have going on right in front of our eyes. I hope we all learn lots of valuable stuff.

That pretty much says it all. The real irony of the situation is that the mods have very little real power at all.

So much for the democratic process. No, that statement isn't quite so random as you might think.

thanks syd...i've just finished pouring the cement for my bunker...i've got claymores in the trees, a gasoline filled moat...and enough spam(the semi-edible kind) to last me at least until this whole thing blows over. no, not really, i cant back any of that up. I can't say i've had any hate directed at me, at least not to my face (not counting chig of course), but i'm sure its out there...once they find out that i exist anyway. as for those people who dont like me behind my back...dont care. have at it. if you know me (dont you dare say a thing chig) then you know i'm not one to abuse this mod thing. hopefully they can figure out a way to monitor the mods...wow and a bureaucracy was born.
