Over the counter medicines can be dangerous!

A  19 year old University of Oklahoma honor student, and Music major, died yesterday after taking acetaminophen (an ingredient in Tylenol, and other over the counter pain medications) for 3 weeks.

She took the medication for a toothache, but exceeded the recommended dosage by only one pill per day.  The bottle warns not to take more than 8 in 24 hrs., but she had been taking 9 a day.  She died of liver failure.

It is not known why she had not sought medical treatment for her discomfort, but this young woman made a fatal mistake in not doing so.

Please be aware of the potential dangers of this common over the counter drug, and use it with care!
